Newton Model United Nations 2026 seeks to foster diplomacy, collaboration, and rigorous critical thinking. Delegates bring diverse perspectives and expertise to multilateral discussions on timely international issues, gaining insight into global affairs while reflecting on their relevance within our local context. This year’s edition will be Newton’s largest conference to date, with expanded committee offerings and a doubled delegate capacity, welcoming approximately 500 secondary students over two days of intensive debate.
Participants will examine issues drawn from the United Nations agenda and its regional bodies, including topics that often receive limited mainstream attention. Guided by our 2026 theme — DREAM BEYOND, LEAD BEYOND: TRANSFORMING VISIONS INTO REALITY — delegates are encouraged to step confidently into leadership roles and engage thoughtfully in shaping meaningful international discourse.
Secretary-General
Micaela Sánchez is a first-year IB Diploma Programme student and Secretary-General of Newton MUN 2026. She attended her first in-person conference in 2023 and developed a passion for debate, research and public speaking. In 2024, she assumed her first executive role and became Under-Secretary-General later that year, and in 2025, stepped into a greater leadership responsibility in guiding the conference.
Beyond MUN, Micaela aspires to pursue a career in finance and economics abroad. Driven by a strong interest in both fields, she established an educational growth fund initiative for high school students and engaged in opportunities and casual competitions such as the Wharton Global High School Investment Competition. Outside the academic sphere, she hopes to further develop her musical formation after completing several guitar recitals and formal examinations over the years. Additionally she maintains a strong interest in the arts, particularly drawing, painting and reading poetry
Viewing MUN as a space for growth rather than a platform reserved only for the already accomplished, Micaela wants to ensure that this conference is not merely another event on your calendar, but an experience that leaves a lasting and meaningful impact on your life.
