Theory of Knowledge


Theory of Knowledge (TOK) is one of the central parts of the IB curriculum and is intended to be the pathway by which each of the six subjects interact and allow all the disciplines that the IB students take to be cross-referenced and utilized in an inter-disciplinary manner.

As can be seen in the above image, TOK is a fundamental cornerstone of the IB. Unlike other subjects, TOK is far more concerned with the process of discovering and sharing the individual view of the students, rather than merely acquiring knowledge to be recounted under exam conditions. As such, it is more an inquiry into the nature of knowledge and beliefs, rather than related to specific facts or precedents.
