December - GIRLS MINI BASKET BALL-RUNNERS UP
An excellent game was played by our Mini basket ball team against Hiram Bingham in the Sports Centre, where our victory meant we obtained second place in the ADCA championship, having lost only one game in the whole competition.
We must point out, that it was an 11-12 age group competition, and some of our team members were 10 years old, giving even more merit to this excellent result.
Thank you girls for all your effort and dedication as well as to your coach John Cruzati. Likewise, to all the parents who supported them during the competition.
Congratulations.

October - SPORTS DAY 2010
On Saturday the 13th November the Lower school Sports Day took place in an atmosphere of happiness and participation, where the bright colours of the games and the massive participation of the pupils was the outstanding feature.
The theme was health and the slogan was “ I am fit, I am well and you?”. The idea was that by participating the pupils could learn the importance of living a healthy life by exercising regularly and by eating healthy food.
Nicolás Pacheco who excels at skeet shooting was in charge of this year’s inauguration. Nicolás has been a regular participant at international level for quite a time now, achieving excellent results for several years in Continental Cups, South American Championships, Ibero-American Championships and Bolivarian Games in the Junior age group. This year he came in 5th place in the All Arms World Championship in the Adults age group!
This year’s Sports Day winner was Windsor, followed by Lancaster , Tudor and then York in 4th place. As in every Lower School Sports Day, we finished with the much anticipated parent’s Tug of War, won this year by a very strong Tudor team.

October - UNDEAFETED ADCA CHAMPIONS – 2010
Winning a competition means to finish in first place, however, maintaining first place and being undefeated from the first round all the way to the final, means a lot of effort and dedication in each one of the games played. This is precisely what our juvenile boys basket ball team achieved. Together with their coach José Basile, they were the undefeated ADCA Champions 2010.
Thank you for giving us the great happiness of being the champions and thanks also to your parents for their support in each game.
Congratulations and keep it up.

October - ADCA FOOTBALL COMPETITION - 2010
It is worth pointing out that results do not always show the effort and sacrifice that our students have demonstrated in the different competitions where they have represented us. This is certainly true in the case of our junior ADCA football team who played without 5 of their best players due to illness and even so managed to come in third place from 11 participants. They showed effort, dedication and gave the best they could.
Congratulations boys, for all your effort in defending the colours of your Alma Mater.

October - ADCA ATHLETIC CHAMPIONSHIP - 2010
During September 23rd and 24th, more than 80 of our students between boys and girls, represented us in the Athletics Juveniles and Seniors ADCA Competition, 2010.
Our students during these two days showed good will to overcome difficulties and desire to achieve first places. Proof of this is our student Paolo Petrozzi from Form VI finally embraced his long will dream of obtaining the gold medal in the javelin throw, which make him finally, very happy. Like him, we have several students who achieved excellent results allowing us to obtain the second place in the boys juveniles and seniors over all results and the third place in the juveniles and senior girls.
Congratulations to each one of our students who represented us and ask them to continue training for the competitions to come.

October - VISIT FROM THE CEIE SCHOOL URUGUAY
Once more the CEIE School from Uruguay visited Newton but this time, with a bigger delegation of 66 people including students and parents.
As was the case last year, they were hosted by our students and their families who showed our visitors both friendship and family love.
This time the students from CEIE School participated with our students in handball, football and in a swimming festival , where Markham College (Lower school) participated as a guest. We must point out also that Markham College and San José de Monterrico School invited the CEIE School to participate with them in handball and football as well.
Apart from participating in sports activities they also went on various tours to Lima and to the Parque de las Leyendas on their way to the airport.
The parents who accompanied the Uruguay delegation, played a football match with our school parents and have left an open invitation for a return game in the Centenario Stadium in Montevideo, Uruguay.
It really was a fraternal week, sharing day to day moments, going from one place to another and very special for Andres Dominguez who was the mentor of this beautiful exchange of brotherhood between both schools.
Many thanks to our students for their excellent behaviour as friendship ambassadors, to their parents for their wonderful support and our authorities for trusting us.

August - All Guns World Championship
“My participation in this competition has been one of the most important experiences in my life due to the fact that it only takes place every four years and the best shooters in the world participate. In this competition, 105 countries participated with more than 5,000 shooters. I am very happy because I broke my personal record in international competitions by successfully breaking 125 plates, just one plate behind the bronze medal winner, 2 plates behind the silver medal winner and three plates behind the gold medal winner! That’s why I think that with more effort I can do even better in the future. I thank my family, my school and my federation for their support.”

This year we celebrated the 20th Newton Cup with joy and enthusiasm. On this occasion, as in previous years, we were accompanied by Markham College, Inmaculado Corazón, Cambridge and others.
Our students competed for their “Alma Mater” with great team spirit and enthusiasm from first grade up to Form III, obtaining first place in the categories 96/97 and 94/95 and second place in categories 2002, 2000 and ’98.
40 football teams participated representing different schools, all divided into eight age groups. One could observe a lot of Fair Play, sportsmanship and why not say it, very good organization during the five Saturdays that the Newton Cup took place.
For all the above mention, we wish to congratulate all our students involved in the different teams, as well as to thank all the parents who came with their child every saturday, the maintenance department for their wonderful support, the medic department, the security department and specially all the coaches who make this 20th anniversary Newton Cup a very successful one.
And as one of the coaches from another school said: “Newton Cup is my favorite tournament of the year, because is filled with amusement and human warmth.” |

So far we have participated with Lincoln, San Jorge and San José de Monterrico in football and basket ball.

April - Old Newtonian Gabriela Saravia – National record in high jump
She was upset about her performance in the last Juegos Odesur and the Metropolitan Games were a good opportunity to demonstrate what she is capable of. Gabriela Saravia broke her own personal record of 1.73 mts, broke the national record of 1.74 mts and established a new one at 1.78 mts.
Gabriela has fond memories of her school and she sent an e-mail to her teachers with the good news:
Dear teachers,
I am very happy to share with you my latest achievement. You have been there throughout my school years and to me you are family. I miss being at Newton and close to that united family that the school is. I feel that my achievements are yours as well, whether in sports or academic. I always had your support and love and I have you with me in every competition.
Yesterday I was able to accomplish one of my biggest goals so far: breaking the national record and earning a place in the history of Peruvian athletics. It was with great effort and hard work under the direction of Mr. Diego Gorriti that I was able to jump 1.78 mts and thus classify to the Iberoamerican Athletics Championship which will be held in Spain on June. I am very happy to dedicate this achievement to my alma mater.
Here is a short video of the competition and new record.
