DÍA DE LA MADRE Y DEL PADRE
Durante el primer semestre celebramos dos fechas muy importantes: el Día de la Madre y el Día del Padre. En ambas oportunidades, los padres de familia disfrutaron con los niños, no sólo de un rico desayuno, sino de una linda experiencia cargada de emoción y alegría al compartir una mañana de interesantes actividades.

EXÁMENES DE INGRESO A KINDER
Y PRE-KINDER
Con gran éxito se llevaron a cabo las evaluaciones para el Nivel II y Pre-Kinder 2009. Toda la actividad se realizó en un ambiente muy agradable y tranquilo. Los postulantes interactuaron con otros niños, realizando actividades motrices tanto en grupo como en forma individual.
Los padres de familia tuvieron la oportunidad de observar las diferentes actividades que se realizaban en el colegio ese sábado y además, fueron invitados a asistir a la charla de la Dra. Emperatriz Torres, “La independencia y las buenas relaciones entre padres e hijos”, tema dirigido a los padres de familia de secundaria, pero también de gran interés para los más jóvenes. |

TALLERES PARA PADRES
Como todos los años, los padres de familia de Kindergarten interesados en la educación de sus hijos/as, acudieron a nuestro workshop 2008. Se inició con una explicación sobre el Programa de la Escuela Primaria del Bachillerato Internacional, destacando la indagación y el constructivismo como dos de los pilares principales de esta filosofía. Por otro lado, se explicó que nuestro currículo flexible está basado en ideas grandes, relevantes y significativas para los niños, en el desarrollo de habilidades, en la comprensión de conceptos y en fomentar actitudes como el trabajo en equipo y la tolerancia, entre otras. Por cerca de dos horas, los padres se convirtieron en nuestros alumnos, realizando algunas de las tareas que sus hijos e hijas hacen cada día. De esta manera, pudieron apreciar las diferentes metodologías empleadas para motivar a los niños a aprender haciendo, a experimentar con diferentes materiales, a aprender de forma dinámica y divertida. |

UNITS OF INQUIRY
Looking in the mirror. The main aim of this unit is to help children to recognise the different stages in human life, as well as to understand that people are able to do different things in each of these stages. To achieve this understanding, children were exposed to different learning experiences, such as the visit of a mother with her baby, the visit of a grandmother, the preparation of their own photo album, etc. With all these activities, the students had the opportunity to ask questions and to clarify the doubts they had about the topic. It was definitely a very interesting trandisciplinary unit, full of knowledge which will be unforgettable for our children.
Clothes. Throughout this unit, our three year olds were able to discover and understand the importance of dressing in a specific way, according to the situation and the weather. One of the most significant experiences was the visit they did to SAGA, where they had the opportunity to try on different clothes and ask questions about the use of them. Children closed this unit participating in a fashion parade in which they made their own clothes, showing enthusiasm, creativity and confidence. They showed us they were risk takers!
A trip around the world was a fascinating unit for the children. Exposing them to other cultures helped them understand the differences and similarities between people living in different countries, and enabled them to better appreciate their cultural heritage. They were very enthusiastic when learning about the ways of life, the languages spoken, the geographic characteristics, the location of each country, the flags, special celebrations, the traditional food, customs, etc. This unit was an opportunity for parents, pupils and teachers to work together on enhancing knowledge, values and reinforcing our learner profile. Thanks to all the parents who kindly collaborated with us.
