Music, music everywhere!
It has been yet another semester of intense musical activity. The Suzuki violins and school orchestra once again won the “Excellence” prize in the national Nueva Acropolis festival. The native instruments, guitars and cello ensembles participated in the San Agustin competition.

In the school Arts Evening the violins, orchestra, band, and guitarist duo delighted us with a wonderful variety of musical genres. The band then played in the Lower School Sports Day, as the athletes of the different Houses entered the fields.

In the IB Concert the participating students demonstrated an impressive mastery of their instrument and a wide repertoire. The majority of instruments that are played at our school were represented in this concert.

In the grade concerts from Kindergarten to 4th Grade the younger pupils impressed their parents with their enthusiasm, talents and potential.

Finally, a group of our students added to the festive spirit by playing Xmas music in Jockey Plaza, CC Caminos del Inca and Hogar Santa Maria.

Thank you to all the pupils and staff for their dedication and collaboration in 2007. They have provided us with some memorable musical moments. In 2008 we look forward to holding the annual Latin America Suzuki music festival at our school and to hosting the Travelling Notes tour of musicians from the USA.

Kenneth’s First Play
We’ve seen Daniel and the Devil, and helped Walter. We’ve faced the Attraction of Algebra and a Man in a Bowler Hat. We’ve had a Party Time and we’ve sat On Top of the World, then we went Over the Wall and we saw a Variation of Ducks. This year it was Kenny’s turn, his first time in the theatre. He had a blast and so did we.

We chose this one-act play to show how much fun theatre can be. The young actors guided us through some of the main stages of theatre history, showing us the different conventions involved in this fascinating art. They performed so well that the Heads of other British schools cried “Excellent!” as they came out of San Silvestre’s auditorium that 3rd September, and one week later they were asked to repeat it for all of Upper School to enjoy.

In the Arts Evening the Form V IB Theatre Arts students produced and performed a very witty short play called “5 Minutes.” This closed a very successful and varied season of drama productions. Congratulations to all members of the Drama Club for demonstrating such enthusiasm and commitment and for sharing their talents with us.

Special congratulations to Cecilia González, who has been a very important member of our club and who is returning to her home country. Special congratulations also to Luciana Franco, who this year won the prestigious LAHC prize for creativity and initiative in the Form V Graduation Ceremony.

Danza
¡Felicitaciones a nuestras alumnas!

Arte
