The Post

We are seeking a fully qualified and experienced Computer Science teacher who is able to teach middle year mathematics. In his/ her first year with us the appointee will have a 60% mathematics and 40% Computer Science teaching load.

Medical Insurance

The school offers all its employees private medical insurance for themselves and close family (spouse and children) and pays 52.5% of the monthly premium. The other 47.5% (about US$100 per month) is paid by the employee and this is deducted from monthly salary. The insurance allows you medical attention in the best clinics in Peru.


Tuition fee reductions

Teachers in their first two years at Newton who have children at the school receive a 50% reduction on monthly tuition fees and are exempt from paying the school entrance fee. Those teachers who have been at the school for more than 2 years receive a 75% reduction.


For candidates contracted from abroad the package includes:


Flights

Return flights from and to the home country are given on completion of a contract.


Baggage allowance

A baggage allowance of at the beginning of the first contract and the end of the final contract for appointee, spouse and children.


Spanish lesson allowance

Appointees who do not speak proficient Spanish will receive a monthly allowance for Spanish lessons during their first year at the school.

The Post

We are seeking a fully qualified early childhood teacher with experience of teaching the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IBPYP). The appointee should have proven ability or the potential to coordinate the English and Mathematics curriculum for pupils aged 2-6. She / He will form part of the Early Years curriculum management team, together with the Coordinator of Spanish and the Deputy Coordinator of the PYP. The three coordinators report to the Head and Deputy Head of Early Years and form part of the Early Years Senior Leadership team.


Context

At present there are 355 pupils in our Early Years:

Level 1 2-3 year olds 5 classes 59 pupils
Level 2 3-4 year olds 6 classes 92 pupils
Pre-Kinder 4-5 year olds 7 classes 101 pupils
Kinder 5-6 year olds 5 classes 103 pupils

Our nursey school site was completely rebuilt this year to accommodate very spacious, well-appointed classrooms. The rooms are equipped with special child-safe and eco-friendly furniture, and modern technological facilities. Large gardens and patios provide the pupils with comfortable play areas.


We deliver a semi-immersion programme whereby pupils learn in English during 50% of the day and in Spanish the rest of the day. There are 12 teachers of English/mathematics and 12 teachers of Spanish; each class has a support teacher. There are specialist teachers for Music, Gross Motor and Drama, and Physical Education; there are also 3 psychologists and 3 learning support teachers.


The appointee will be the direct line manager of the 12 teachers of English and mathematics.

General Functions of the Post
  1. Oversee the development, implementation and evaluation of the English, Mathematics and Visual Art programmes in Early Years.
  2. Develop, in collaboration with the corresponding coordinators in Lower (Elementary) School, the articulation of said programmes across the PYP years.
  3. Contribute to the development and implementation of the Early Years strategic plan.
  4. Lead the English team through the upcoming IB evaluation (probably September 2019).
  5. Teach one group of students (50% of directed time)
