IB MATHEMATICS AT NEWTON

At Newton all students following the Diploma programme are required to take mathematics either at standard level or higher level depending on their different needs, abilities and interest. In making the selection, individual students should take the following considerations into account.

1.  Your own abilities in mathematics and the type of mathematics in which they can be successful.

2.  Your own interest in mathematics with respect to areas, which hold an appeal.

3.  Your other choices of subjects within the framework of the IB diploma.

4.   Your future academic plans in terms of the subjects you wish to study.

5.   Your choice of career.

Teachers in the mathematics department are available to assist any student in choosing the most appropriate subject and level in IB mathematics.

At the moment there are three courses on offer mathematical studies SL, mathematical methods SL and mathematics HL.
